Drug activity prediction of small drug molecules using Random Forest model

The aim of this paper is to develop predictive models that can determine, whether a particular compound is active (1) or not (0). In this, we have different datasets along with the drugs. A dataset contains a number of features. Every feature will be processed by using feature selection algorithms and particular compound also be found with the help of these features. We have taken the dataset from Tox21 databases, clean the data and then apply the different feature selection algorithms in order to predict the desired result by applying different models whether the particular drug will be beneficial or injurious to the health of our patient. All the models will be compared with each other and the suitable one will be selected whose accuracy will be more.

Criminal Law Amendment Act 2013: A Study of perceptions of youth

The nation-wide outrage in India over the tragic gang rape incident of December 16, 2012 in New Delhi propelled the government to drive the issue of violence against women to the centre stage of political discourse. Consequently in April, 2013 the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act was passed, which is popularly known as the Anti-rape Act. It was perceived that this Act would serve as a deterrent by ensuring that the criminal justice system of the country protects women’s basic human rights and debars any future offenses against women. In the light of the amendments made to the criminal law in 2013, this study aims to understand its impact on gender issues and to examine the level of awareness regarding the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 2013 among the male and female youth of the urban areas of the state of Haryana. The objectives of the study are to find out various dimensions of crime against women in society and to examine the role of police in dealing with the offenses against women. The study has been undertaken in five districts of the state of Haryana namely Panipat, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Ambala, and Panchkula. Interviews and focused group discussions were conducted on male and female youth of all the five districts. The results indicated that appropriate and efficient laws alone are not sufficient to protect the right to live with dignity of women. Unless and until people are ready to fight for it, things will not change. To handle violence against women effectively society’s perception needs to be completely altered. However, to enable women to fight against discrimination and abuse it is necessary to empower them by ensuring for them appropriate and effective legal aid. Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2013 is a successful step in this sense.

Economic losses from hides and skins utilization: A case study of Sabon Gari and Zaria local government areas, Kaduna state

Abstract Economic losses from hides and skins utilization in Zaria municipal slaughter houses were investigated from the point of view of the raw skin availability and qualities that were recovered, and lost due to human consumption as ponmo. Using 2014 slaughter figures, the several grades analysis were carried out based on grading, and estimated values of the qualities; the graphical plots of the recovered and lost hides and skins, and the added-values were estimated. The relatively moderate recovery rate at Zango abattoir for cattle hides and Dogarawa slaughter slab could not justify optimized recovery and utilization for the domestic tanning and leather products industries. The added-value showed that there exist high potentials for diversification of the leather sectorial economy, however, the quality of the hides and the losses in production of goat and sheep skins are drawbacks to a sustainable domestic tanning industry.
